1. Complete your FAFSA
The first step in applying for financial aid is ALWAYS to
You must file the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) every year that you want financial aid. File online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Filling out the FAFSA is FREE. There are commercial websites that look like official US Dept. of 教育 websites but make you pay a fee to file! If the address of the website does 不 end in ".ed.gov", use any of the FAFSA links on the SNU website to go to the correct site.
The FAFSA can be filed beginning 10月1日 for the 即将到来 academic year (10 months in advance). The last day to file your FAFSA for the current academic year (ending after the Summer term) is June 30th. After the 6月30日 deadline you may only file for the 即将到来 学年。
Submitting the FAFSA allows undergraduate students to be considered for federal student loans (i.e. Stafford Subsidized and Unsubsidized), federal and state grants, and the federal work-study program. Graduate students are eligible for federal student loans.
Be sure to include the SNU school code, 009192, on the FAFSA. SNU will not get your information if our school code is 不 included. Undergraduate students are encouraged to file prior to May 1st. SNU need-based funds are only guaranteed at the published rate until the first day of the term of enrollment. After that awards are based on funds available.
2. Confirm your Admission Status
Only officially admitted students to SNU degree seeking programs are eligible for financial aid. You must have a completed admissions file with no outstanding requirements (i.e., pending official transcripts) to be officially admitted. Eligibility to attend classes does 不 constitute a completed admissions file.
3. Complete your 经济资助 File
After submitting a FAFSA, the Department of 教育 will send you a Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR will 不ify you of any corrections which need to be made to your FAFSA. Contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID for questions concerning your FAFSA.
The Financial Aid Office will notify you if you are selected for Verification, a process where the information on the FAFSA must be verified as correct. A tracking letter detailing additional information needed and a preliminary award will be mailed. You will not be officially awarded until all additional information is received. 经济资助 will 不 be credited to your account until the Verification process is complete.
4. Confirm your Registration
In order for an undergraduate student to receive an SNU scholarship and/or grant, they must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credits) each semester. If you drop below full-time status, you may still use federal aid at reduced amounts. Part-time students are 不 eligible for SNU aid. Contact the 经济资助 Office if you plan to drop below full-time status to see how your award will be affected.
Graduate students must be enrolled at least half time (3 graduate-level credits) each semester to be eligible for financial aid. You must be enrolled full time (6 credits) to get the maximum financial aid award.
5. Accept your 经济资助
You must accept your Financial Aid by signing and returning your Award Letter. An Award Letter will be mailed after your financial aid file is complete and an official award has been determined. Award Letters display offered amounts. You do not have to accept the full amount listed. Financial Aid will 不 be credited to your account until a signed Award Letter is received by the 经济资助 Office.

SNU scholarships and grants may be available to full-time (at least 12 semester hours) undergraduate students. All admitted undergraduate students are automatically reviewed for SNU merit based aid. Note: If you drop below full-time (12 credit hours per semester), you will lose your SNU scholarship for that semester.
学生们 may also apply separately for Private/Alternative Loans.
If you are enrolled in a degree seeking program at SNU and will participate in a sponsored study abroad program, you may apply for financial aid for all aid programs except SNU grants and scholarships, and Federal Work Study. A signed Consortium Agreement is required.
